Annual Ushers Pool Party & Picnic

Sunday, August 5, 2018
3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Well's Daughters Summer Home
959 Robin's Point Avenue
Deltaville, VA 23043
Driving Directions

Several years ago, it occurred to Sal & me that our Ushers do just as good a job at all our services and that they need to be thanked in a better way than just “Thanks!”.  Because of the success of the Flower & Altar Guild “Thank you party!”, I didn’t see any need to re-invent the wheel, so we announced that Sal & I would host the “Annual Ushers Pool Party & Picnic” at our daughter’s summer home.  Due to the overwhelming response from you all, it has gone splendidly for the last 3 years with lots of food, fun, and drinks for all. It will be held again at the same locations which are 959 Robin’s Point Avenue in Deltaville on Hunton Creek. If you know where Dave & Ann Wilcox live & are driving, you would go past our daughter’s house on the left on the way to their home.   If you want to come by boat, it is the last boathouse on the left (port) side at the end of the creek. There are 2 covered slips with boats in them, but there are places for a couple of boats (draft limited to 2’) to tie up. We will have a bunch of balloons tied to their mailbox to mark the spot and parking will be marked off in the yard. Ushers, wives, husbands, kids, Grandkids &/or significant others are certainly expected to join in the festivities!

The date this year will be Saturday, August 5, 2018. We will keep a weather eye out and let you know if there will need to be any changes. We will start the fun at 3:00 PM with a dip in the pool if you like. Just bring a towel and a bathing suit. There are plenty of places to change. If everyone will bring dishes as good as you brought in previous years, we’ll have some wonderful food! There is a marvelous grill at the pool, so if anyone wants to bring something for the grill, it will be available. We will serve from inside so we can keep the sun & bugs off the food. Sal and I will supply hot dogs, buns, condiments, beer, wine, water, lemonade, plates, cups, utensils & napkins. There is a wonderful outdoor sound system as well as an outdoor TV. There is lots of comfortable seating, but you might want to throw a couple of folding chairs in the car just in case. I should also say that there are lots of “out of the sun” space outside as well as an air-conditioned house if the weather is too bright & hot. There will be a Corn Hole pitching game set up in the shade for you to enjoy as well.

We will post a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the Parrish Hall this week!

In the meantime, my heartfelt thanks to all of you for all you do for Christ Church Parish. This will have to suffice until August 5th!
